Trick to lock your private folder

Do you worry about privacy or do you maintain some personal files on the office system or at Friends pc, then you must lock that folder. I know many software's that most people use to lock their Personal files. But this trick is the safest and locks files or folders without use of any software's.

Suppose you want to lock the folder movies in d: which has the path D:\movies.

In the same drive create a text file and type


ren movies movies.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}


Now save this text file as loc.bat


Create another text file and type in it


ren movies.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} movies


Now save this text file as key.bat
Now you can see 2 batch files loc and key. Press loc and the folder movies will change to control panel and you cannot view its contents. Press key and you will get back your original folder.
try it out!!!!!!!

Note: It is safe as in case if you loose the key file, you can create it again but the folder name must be correct.

phproxy is “dedicated to bringing you fast web browsing from behind web filters”. Simply tap in the URL of that banned site you really must see, it could be Facebook, MySpace, Youtube, or a renegade blogger behind enemy lines, and you will be able to access it with no problems. More seriously, the proxy allows you to visit a site anonymously because it is the proxy itself that is visiting the banned site not you, and so keeps your browsing hidden from prying eyes allowing you to protect your online identity.

Such a proxy also allows you to visit sites that have banned your IP. This might be a forum or just a website or blog from which you or other users on your IP range (whether on your school or company network or your ISP account) have been barred access. The proxy server is an open gateway between your web destination and you.

Other proxies exist, such as www.the-cloak.com (please make sure you include the hyphen in that URL or you will be in for a shock), and this pageprovides a shipload more.

HOW TO BLOCK A WEBSITE ON A PARTICULAR COMPUTER

1. Click Start->All Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt.


2. Click Command Prompt This will open a DOS command window.


3. Type: notepad C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts


4. Locate the line 127.0.0.1 localhost


5. To block the website xyz.com for example, just add this text under 127.0.0.1 localhost:


127.0.0.1 xyz.com


127.0.0.1 www.xyz.com


You can add as many sites any site, However you will need to prefix it with “127.0.0.1″.


6. Save the file

xyz.com will now be blocked in all web browser

Displaying a Text Notice before Logon

You can create a funny message or legal warnings for others just before logon to your computer. This is very useful if you want to give a message to new user about the use of computer. Edit the value of registry keys to create a banner message.

Click Start button then type regedit in Run option then press Enter for next.

How To Change The Icon Of An .exe File

Some times it becomes necessary to change the ICON of an executable (.exe) file so that theexe file get’s a new appearence. Many of the Tools such as TuneUP Winstyler does this job by adjusting the Windows to display a custom icon to the user. But in reality when the file is carried to a different computer, then it shows it’s original ICON itself. This means that inorder to permanantly change the ICON, it is necessary to modify the executable file and embed the ICON inside the file itself. Now when this is done the exe file’s ICON is changed permanantly so that even if you take file to a different computer it show’s a new icon.

For this purpose I have found a nice tool which modifies the exe file and will embed the ICON of your choice into the file itself. ie: The tool changes the exe ICON permanantly.

I’ll give you a step-by-step instruction on how to use this tool to change the icon.

1. Goto www.shelllabs.com and download the trial version of Icon Changer and install it (Works on both XP and Vista).

2. Right-click on the exe file whose ICON is to be changed.

3. Now you will see the option Change Icon. Click on that option.

4. Now the Icon Changer program will open up.

5. Icon changer will search for all the ICONS on your system so that you can select any one of those.

6. Now select the ICON of your choice and click on SET.

7. Now a popup window will appear and ask you to select from either of these two options.

• Change embeded icon.
• Adjust Windows to display custom icon.

Select the first option (Change embeded icon).

8. You are done. The ICON get’s changed.
